Nancy Dickens has always loved reading and writing stories, especially those involving animals, particularly horses. After riding mules at the Grand Canyon in Arizona she decided to write a series of books about Twinkie, a Grand Canyon mule. This was the beginning of her National Park series of equine adventures.

Many of the animals featured in Nancy's books are personal "friends" or based on animals she has had contact with during her 20 plus year career as a veterinary technician. Nancy has always enjoyed creating personalities and conversations for the various animals in her life and that talent is evident in her writing.
